"You will be an official representative of the Church . . . Your purpose will be to invite others to come unto Christ . . . Greater blessings and more happiness than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in this labor of love among His children." . . . Thomas S. Monson

Elder Layton's Setting Apart

We had a nice day today tying up loose ends for the big day tomorrow. Bought some more treats, stationary and odds and ends that we probably didn't really need but wanted to send him fully equipped! We ate lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Robintino's with the family.  Prior the the setting apart each of us was beginning to become kind of anxious. Meeting with the Presidency was just what we all needed!
Landon was set apart as a full time missionary at 8:30 pm at the Stake Center in the High Priest room of the Bountiful North Stake. Each member gave a few thoughts and then President Gibbons gave Landon a beautiful blessing.  The spirit was strong and very comforting. I was able to take notes of the thoughts and blessing and then wrote them up to send with Landon to the MTC. This way he can always remember what was said and the promises made to him.

Later that evening... Elder Layton had about a dozen friends come over to say their goodbyes. It was pretty sweet, nobody wanted to leave. They kept sharing memories and Dean and I heard many funny stories and got some answers to what may have happened to his car with some minor injuries.Haha. What a great group of friends he has. We will miss them also.

that is a great idea to do about taking the notes. My Aunt Kim took notes when Weston was blessed and not sure if she ever took notes when Cason was blessed but I love rereading the blessing.
